The MSI Wind drivers for Linux and Windows XP are available from this
page:

http://asia.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=135&prod_no=1474

In particular, the WiFi drivers for Linux can be downloaded from:

http://download1.msi.com.tw/files/downloads/dvr_exe/Wlan_u100_linux.zip

The drivers are really rpm files:

realtek_8187se-kmp-smp-1.0_2.6.16.46_0.12-0.i586.rpm
realtek_ieee80211-kmp-smp-1.0_2.6.16.46_0.12-1.i586.rpm

But rtl8187 is already available in Ubuntu, and on my Neo Empriva 540SVB
it is auto-probed, installed, and configured, and works fine with
NetworkManager.

Maybe if you made this entry in /etc/modprobe.conf

alias wlan0 r8187 (or rtl8187)

Wild shot, but may work.
