Hey all
Now that IcedTea has passed the Java 1.6 compatibility test, I wonder
what will happen to GCJ/GNU Classpath:
- Will GCJ go and directly import IcedTea?
- Will GNU Classpath slowly start to replace their components with
IcedTea components and GCJ will keep importing GNU Classpath?
- Will GCJ/GNU Classpath die because IcedTea/OpenJDK is here? I observed
a considerable decrease in activity at least for GCJ.
Or will everything stay as it is and GCJ won't make use of IcedTea? As
far as I understand, GCJ supports more platforms than IcedTea/OpenJDK.
So I guess it's a question what's more important: Quality or Quantity.
Unless IcedTea code will be used for the main (supported) platforms and
the rest will be kept maintaining. What seems very hard...
