That patch is required for using dmraid in raid5 config. You have to enable:
CONFIG_DM_RAID45=m
In the config. I tested a correctly patched kernel on 2 systems already remotely. Of course dmraid needs a little change too to load the new module (I would update dmraid to current version when changeing it). One user required a small delay in dmraid initramfs code, but the kernel patch is definitely working and applies cleanly.
