It would be nice if the proposed new registry
(
http://registry.gimp.org:81) could become a bit more complete for the
upcoming 2.4. Maybe not a complete replacement yet, but probably
something that a plugin author might choose over the old one because it
is more shiny.
The main blocking points, in my opinion:
- port 81. Locks me out of the system from various places where I do
have net access (port whitelists)
- only one signle type of content, "C plugin".
- uploading python scripts is still buggy (-> .py.txt)
- uploading exe files is not possible (we could require archive ofrmats,
but then this should be stated somewhere). BTW, do other platform's
binaries work?
- there should be a way for the authors to include images in the
descriptions (maybe we just need a proper example?)
Is some of this part of the systems configuration and can ve delegated,
or does all of it have to be done by the administrator (or worse, a
shell user on the server)?
