in my experience, iPlanet only "requires" java for the configuration GUI.
which, in my experience, only gets used once in a blue moon. but then again
we only used iPlanet for UNIX /etc/passwd replacement, and all our
updates/transforms used DBD::LDAP.
i don't see what the huge fuss is. Eclipse also requires java, and is under
an approved open-source license. oh, wait... these are the zealot
debianheads we're talking about.
