I'm not yet very familiar with what the Ubuntu equivalent for Debian's
contrib is (I'm just guessing but is it universe?), but I think it
will work this way... 'contrib' in Debian is a group of DFSG-free
software that needs non-free software to run or build. Debian/Ubuntu
can (re)distribute software in 'contrib' but since the software needed
to run/compile them is not free, they end up in contrib.

So in the case of most software that needs Sun's JRE/JDK, you will
first need to package a .deb (using the make-jpkg utility and it's
relatively easy) for the JRE/JDK and install that, then install the
package that needs a JRE (in this case FDS).

Just replace contrib with the right name for the case of Ubuntu. :)
