Subject: [ph-perl] sort -u in a script
hi,

i have a file that contains entries in this format:
machine_name ip_add server_ip

ex:
dcea759 172.23.169.229 172.23.8.30

i need to sort the lines and remove duplicate entries. how do i do
that in perl? i was thinking of running a system command with sort -u
but it'll require another file to be created, is that correct? but
i'm not sure how to assign the output to the file currently in use.

can i do the sorting w/o an additional file to be created? how?

tyvm,
erik
