I tried executing dhclient eth0 on the ubuntu boxes to send dhcp
requests on the slackware server. the server receives the requests
and sends offers but the ubuntu clients does not receive the offers.
I used the netconfig script to configure slackware network interface
with the default routes and everything.

hmmm.. didn't know that. thanks. It's my first time to install ubuntu
and tweak it for production deployment. I'm too lazy for slackware
because I have to install productivity tools manually (openoffice,
etc) since slackware doesn't have all the nice packages i want for
deployment

There is a gateway installed but it does not connect to the internet
yet ( dsl in our area will only be available in july :( ). So if
this guy exists, then pinging 192.168.0.2 from 192.268.0.1 will go
through 192.168.0.10 first? So in the meantime, I should remove the
gateway from the machines and see the result.
