Subject: [ph-networkers] Cisco 1710 woes
Hello,
I'm running IOS 12.3(11)T on a Cisco 1710 router.
Over the past few weeks I noticed I get a lot of dropped connections on
my telnet sessions... when I looked at the router log I saw very
frequent errors...

The errors I'm seeing are:

000056: Feb 18 22:20:35.581 PST: %LINK-5-CHANGED: Interface Ethernet0,
changed state to administratively down
000057: Feb 18 22:20:36.581 PST: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on
Interface Ethernet0, changed state to down
000058: Feb 18 22:20:38.591 PST: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface Ethernet0,
changed state to up
000059: Feb 18 22:20:39.591 PST: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on
Interface Ethernet0, changed state to up

I thought the cable may be bad... I swapped that out... no change.
Then I decided to back out the IOS version (which I installed several
months ago)

So now I'm running IOS 12.3(10) and pretty much all day it ran with NO
errors, until tonight (the ones I pasted above)

What causes these errors and how do I get rid of them?

Thanks very much,
Don Russell
